I think so. But as long as you have the room and the money to shelter and feed them all you are fine. It’s great you care about animals this much.

You bought wild collected Triops eggs. Along with them you ended up hatching out many other aquatic life forms, almost all of which the Triops is likely to eat.

Depending on the species of your Triops you may not need a male. Some of them will lay fertile eggs even if they never share a body of water with a male.

Gravel is not a good idea. The grains have to be small enough for the Triops to sift through for food. If it’s a female the grains have to be small enough for her to paste to her ball of eggs after she lays it. The cemented on sand grains provide camouflage so that predators don’t find them. Sand from a river bank or stream should be good enough. Just be careful not to take it where, or downstream of where, they spray for insects.

Q&A: How many instant pets are there?

Question by DJ: How many instant pets are there?
I’ve heard of Triops, Aqua-Aliens, Seamonkeys, and Merbirds. Are there any other instant pets that use suspended animation? Or any instant pets that don’r use suspended animation? Also, are Merbirds and Seamonkeys they same?
And don’t say that these are all brine shrimp like the dummy who put the first answer, because if u look them up, they aren’t all the same
edit- you are still a dummy because they are different animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sea monkeys are brine shrimp, you can’t classify different animals with the same name.

Answer by Ponygirl
All those are marketing names for brine shrimp, and I think that is the only “pet” you add water to. I have heard of some crickets that are frozen 8 months of the year and survive to breed in the spring.

edit–sorry, this dummy wasn’t the one who asked a question about “instant pets” now that’s dumb! They are all members of the same phyla, and I don’t think they truly qualify as a pet.

Ever heard of a cougar, mountain lion, puma? Those are all different names for exactly the same animal. No difference genetically. All the “creatures” you have named are the same phyla or genetic family, but some marketers have given them different names, just as the people in different parts of the country gave the North American big cat a different local name for the same beastie.

Q&A: triops many questions?

Question by NY Reefs: triops many questions?
okay, for the bottom of the tank, should i get sand from the beach and boil it? or soil from backyard??? or anything better please tell me!

Best answer:

Answer by Nycerdra
If you want to see your triops, then I’d say sand. Triops are diggers, and if you get soil, then the water will get cloudy. Your other option are rocks. I personally don’t like it because it’s hard for them to dig, and when they DO move them, you hear tiny clicking sounds, and believe me; it’s not fun listening to it while you’re trying to sleep.

Q&A: How many fish should I add to a 60-litre bi-orb?

Question by steviemoo: How many fish should I add to a 60-litre bi-orb?
I’ve currently got a tropical 60-litre bi-orb and I’m wondering about how many fish I can comfortably accommodate. Over the last months I’ve added 9 neon tetras, 2 red swordtails, 6 guppies and 2 dalmation mollies (and 3 plants which are growing nicely). No problems thus far except for a minor snail invasion I’ve managed to suppress. Is that as much as I should add? I was also thinking of adding a couple of triops in a month or so once I’ve grown them a bit in a separate tank.

About 10 little larvae but some will end up dying. Its the natural orders of life, there is no way to stop them from dying.
you will approx get 3 full grown adults but some may go canabal on each other. But remember, 1 adult triops can make anywhere from 20-hundreds of eggs in its short life time, and that means 20-hundreds of babies.

Just remember to put sand in their tank when they are about half an inch long.
