Don’t try and hatch them in a fish tank, a little container will do great.

1.can i use a normal fish tank if i clean it out?

yes, Rinse new tanks prior to use.

2. can i use any kind of lamp for them?

Place in bright incandescent light

3. can i keep the lid of or do i keep it on? will they jump out?
will the sufercate if i put the lid on??

yes you could have a lid but not needed
4. do u have 2 clean them out?

How do I change the water and clean my tank?
Important points to remember

Do not change the water before the 8th day after hatching. Otherwise, you run the risk of pouring out the tiny new Triops
Use bottled drinking water even if your original directions call for distilled water.
If the temperatures of the tank water and the replacement water are different, you might shock your Triops, and they could die. That’s why it’s necessary to place the new water near your tank water so that both will be the same temperature when you change the water.
Once the water temperatures are the same, you can gently pour your Triops into a temporary disposable container. Then pour all the tank water into the toilet and rinse the tank with the bottled spring or drinking water. Next, add the bottled spring or drinking water to your tank, and then gently pour your Triops back into the tank.
f the Triops are large, you can gently pour off 1/3 of the water directly into the toilet and replace. Repeat this step every 3-5 minutes until the tank appears clean.
Your Triops will die if you shake or stir up the bottom gravel while water changing. Make sure you change the water several times or until water is crystal clear to your vision. Do not start water changes until day 8.
5. what water can you use?

Use purified bottled drinking water only. Some directions may specify distilled water, but spring or purified bottled drinking water are better. Do not purify your own tap water as it may remain toxic to the small Triops. (It is very difficult to remove all chlorine and other chemicals via filtration. )

6. do you have to keep light on them at night to?
only for the first 8 days until they grow

help please, i am hatching triops .10 points best answer.?

Question by Josh: help please, i am hatching triops .10 points best answer.?
I used supa tap water conditioning crystals on tap water to try to hatch them. i was wondering if they will still hatch, i am concerned since i just read on the internet that if i use tap water or even conditioned tap water the dry residue in the water will block the little holes in the eggs that makes it sink so they can hatch. is this true? will they still hatch? how long do they take to sink? if they wont hatch can i take out the eggs Dry them and add them to spring water and they will hatch? or can i just take them out the water and add them straight to spring water and they will still hatch? i know i am asking ALOT but i am now very worried! thank you in advanced.

Welcome back to the Age of Dinosaurs!

Well when you are trying to hatch things that are over 200 million years old, you need to do it right. Use distilled or deionized water to hatch the Triops eggs. Rain water might work too but sometimes it has an extremely low pH due to acid rain and would be unsuitable. Tap water and spring water contain minerals like calcium (what you called the dry residue) that interfere with hatching.

The eggs can take hours to sink. You need to check on them and stir them gently every half an hour for two hours. By then the eggs should be sinking and not stuck to the walls of the container.

Since you tried to hatch them in tap water, rinse them with a little distilled water or deionized water and then put them in the new setup. The eggs probably don’t even realize you tried to get them wet.

We have hatched several different species of Triops and have had them produce thousand of eggs for us. Even though the commercial kits say they have Triops eggs in them, they are collected from the wild so sometimes you only have fairy shrimp, cyclops, daphnia, and/or ostracod eggs in the kit. It is very hard to tell all of these apart when they are from a natural source. We have had our best results hatching eggs from Aquabid.com which have been tank raised and propagated.

Triops fish, HELP please!?

Question by Taylor Biranna .: Triops fish, HELP please!?
OMG i just got a triop type of fish his name is Bill! Haha lol. Well actually I got 2 (the second ones name is Jill), haha again. Well anyway Bill is rather aggressive and Bill, and Jill are in the same tank. Bill is as gross as this is eating scales off of Jill (EEEEEEEEWWWWW), it’s like 12 o’clock in the morning so i can’t go to the store, what do i do?

Best answer:

Answer by D
You should either put a hide place in the tank or separate one of the fish so they don’t kill each other. You need to be careful when picking fish. Make sure they are the same aggressive level so they are less likely to pick on each other. Plus make sure you don’t have too many fish if you have a small tank.

triops. help! dinosaur fish. please help!!?

Question by brynn B: triops. help! dinosaur fish. please help!!?
i bought triops and i spit them with my friend he got like 10 eggs and i got the rest he got half the food and i got half and he got one conditioner bag and so did i. my problem is, i was sqeezing the conditioning bag witht out thinking and it tore. it had only soaked for 2 1/2 hours. and there is some floaties. will the eggs be okay if i add them? will they die if they eat the floaties? will they not even hatch? can i put in the fish drops that clean the water instead? please help
you know the little drops you put in the water after you clean your fish tank to make sure the water is safe? could i use those?

Best answer:

Answer by PChu
Lol water conditioners used for fish tanks would work, of course. You just need to get rid of the chlorines put in water to make it safe to drink for people. Don’t worry. Although I think it would have been a better idea if you and your friend had hatched the triops together and then split the water and the critters after they hatched.

As for the floaties* I’ll assume it’s not too harmful for them, unless it’s in chunks and they choke, but most baby triops are too small to eat the chunks.

Q&A: How to feed baby triops? Please help?

Question by Tennisrox95: How to feed baby triops? Please help?
I’m helping my little brothers raise pet triops that they got in a kit, and some of the triops have just hatched, so I was wondering when to start feeding them.

The kit came with a packet of food pellets and the instructions from the kit say to wait two days and feed them crushed pellets, but my little brothers are freaking out because they think that the baby triops will starve if they wait two days to feed them.

I tried looking it up online, but some websites say NOT to feed them for at least three days, but others say to feed them regularly.

So, what do you think? Any answers are appreciated :)
also, the packet of triops eggs that came in the kit was also filled with ‘detritus’, although I don’t know if the baby triops are actually eating that stuff.

Question by Julie: TRIOPS!!!???? Please Help!!!?
My first Triops just hatched! This is his/her 5th day alive. I read they can live with an apple snail, is that true??? Also in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gix707EZMzk&feature=related
it show them living with an african frog, is this true also? I just want him to have some friends!

Thanks!
Even with frogs, Mia???

Yep they should be fine, i had triops with my apple snail. They never bugged each other or anything… heres a tip: when you have baby triops you want to crush their food into crumbs. I had baby triops and their food was really big for them, when the food was in the water for a long time the food puffed up. The baby triops got stuck in it and died :/. The smaller their food the better!

yeah mine were in still water and i had one that ate all the others and he lived for about six months (a long time for triops) in the tiny tank that came with the eggs. so yeah, they should survive well in still water.
