how long does it take for sea monkeys to grow?

Question by samfjmj 345121mmdmc3kekcjch3efy3: how long does it take for sea monkeys to grow?
i had sea monkeys and its been 2 weeks since i put them in and all i see is little things swimming around about the size of a millimeter or a half of a millimeter so how long will it take to get full grown. is it a glitch and they wont grow. I heard that they can live 2 years so maybe it takes longer to grow then triops because they only live for 2 weeks or 3 weeks but they grow fast but maybe since the sea monkeys live for 2 years they take a wile to grow. so how long does it take

My RES is yawnin when he first gets out of water. It may be a respiratory infection, I can’t take him to vet!?

Question by CO2: My RES is yawnin when he first gets out of water. It may be a respiratory infection, I can’t take him to vet!?
I have an RES who’s shell is 3″ long and he is in a 5 gallon with a turtle dock, lots of water, and a UVB bulb. He was kept like this for his whole life. My parents say it’s unneccesary to take him to a vet, and non of friends can take him because I don’t trust them. Once I gave my friend some triops and they died. And my friends think turtles can be kept in a tiny plastic container with a bit of water and a small rock. He’s been yawning for the past few days and his shell is also pulled down and is chipped. He is fed pellets, shrimp, and krill. My parents say that in JULY they will give him a good habitat, when they promised my they would give him a good habitat by CHRISTMAS!!! I did so much research and now I’m trying to make a homemade filter for him. I’m doing the best I can, but after I moved I lost all my 0 of allowance, and when I tried to use 0 I got from New Year’s I still can’t use it because my GRANDPARENTS are here and they don’t have a clue, and they think turtles are the easiest pets to own. WTF!!!!!?????

So anyways he yawns when he first gets out of the water, and some people say it’s respiratory infection, but I cant take him to the vet? What do I do? I really don’t wanna give him away and now my parents think that my turtle has a relationship with our family so THEY don’t wanna give him away, but they are abusing and neglecting it and I can’t even give him away, or do much about it until JULY. Help!

About the only thing that you can do yourself is raise the temperature in the tank a couple of degrees. Try to explain to your parents and grandparents that your turtle is dying and requires veterinary care, at least one injection of antibiotics. Would they prefer a trip to the vet or a dead turtle and a tank that requires decontamination?

Weekly water changes are the most important. Other than that, water temperature, size of tank, and not overfeeding are the basics. Also, having a good filtration system will go a long way.

Cheers

They’re actually quite easy. Hatch eggs in spring water (no other water will hacth eggs), at correct temperature, 23 – 27 degrees celsius (must be at correct temp before you put eggs in). If in cold weather, need a small desk lamp about 20cm from tank to keep water at temperature, left on 24 hours a day. Try to leave tank somewhere were it’ll get natural light as well. If in warm weather only need lamp on 12 hours a day. Put foil over part of tank to allow them a shady area to rest. Once hatched feed a little crushed food every day until about 1 cm big, then feed one crushed pellet per triop per day. After about 1 week, they’ll need to eat 2 -3 times a day. After 10 days you need to clean tank. Pour about 1 third of old water out, careful not to pour out triops. Then carefully clean out stuff on bottom of tank. Add new spring water. Repeat process every 2 to 3 days. They’re quite cool to watch eating when they’re bigger. They swim upside down backwards. Pretty interesting.

i had some triops a little while ago, i had to constantly keep them under a lamp, but they couldnt get to hot or cold, as soon as the temperature drops, the really young ones die and they move a lot slower, i used bottled water to clean them out every so often and the food comes with the pack. i didnt really think they were worth keeping.

About 12 to 48 hours.

Be sure to use distilled, deionized, or spring water. Keep the water between about 68 and 78F, and keep a bright light shining until they hatch (you can turn it out at night as long as you keep the water warm). Since you sloshed it around, take a RINSED AND DRIED spoon and wash any eggs that got stuck up on the edges back into the water.

I think that the more pure the water is, the faster they’ll hatch, due to osmotic pressure; if the temperature is low (like 65F), it will take longer also. With most tapwater, nothing will hatch. Remember that water will always be a few degrees cooler than room temperature unless it is heated (by a heater or lamp).

The shortest I’ve had to wait is 18 hours, and the longest is 36 hours. But sometimes larvae keep hatching even a couple days after the majority (after 5 days, for example). Something should hatch within 3 days, or you may have messed up somewhere. They are VERY VERY hard to see at first, though – about the size of an egg, but shaped like a teardrop with wings.

Q&A: how long does it take for triops to fully grow?

Question by dude 08: how long does it take for triops to fully grow?
Our triops have hatched and i am wondering how long it will take for them to reach full size.

Seems like Triops have a fairly short lifespan, about 8 weeks or so. In those 8 weeks they’ll grow up, breed several times, and then die. So you’ll probably have adults in about 2 weeks. From what I’ve heard you can literally watch them grow in size, they hit a growth spurt after a few days and go crazy.

I’ve gotta get my Triops kit set up sometime. They sound like fun.

Here it is, I found the awesome website I came across the other day. If you’ve got the time and interest, bounce through here and check out the info: http://mytriops.com/ It’s rather interesting.

How long does it take for Triops to hatch?

Question by トトロ: How long does it take for Triops to hatch?
I got some triops from a kit and it says that it takes 18-48 hours for them to hatch. It’s already been one day and nothing changed ? Whats wrong? Do I need to wait some more? Oh and it said to use spring water or distilled water so I used purified water (like you put it in the brita filter) Is it okay to use that kind of water ? Besides that I followed all the directions.
BTW it was from a Triassic Triops DLX kit.
